The Norwegian sextet Kaizers Orchestra build cathartic rock songs that borrow heavily from the dirges of Tin Pan Alley and Eastern European folk music. Ten years after the final pounding of the infamous oil barrels, Kaizers Orchestra is back with yet another bang! Despite its lyrics only being sung in Norwegian, the band’s quirky, conceptually ambitious and triumphant music - a synthesis of Scandinavian and Eastern European folk influences turbo-charged by high-energy blues, indie and rock - is broadly resonant.
