3D printing bone upside down

3D printing human tissue could help keep astronauts healthy all the way to Mars. One of our projects has produced its first bioprinted skin and bone samples. This sped-up clip shows 3D printing of bone taking place upside down, to prove the technique is transferrable to space. With prolonged access to weightlessness impractical, the challenge of such ‘minus 1 G’ bioprinting represents the next best option.
