In the town of Ajigasawa, 199 mm of rain fell in a day, which is the largest amount ever recorded.
More than 100 buildings in the city center were flooded.
The Japan Meteorological Agency reported record daily precipitation in Hirosaki - 202 mm and in Fukaura - 239 mm.
The maximum amount of precipitation per hour was recorded in Shimokita - 40 mm and in Tsugaru - 60 mm.
Due to the abundance of rainfall, the Iwaki, Nakamura and Tayaki rivers overflowed their banks.
Several localities in the Tsugaru region issued evacuation orders.
Authorities are urging residents to be vigilant against floods and landslides.
Aomori is a prefecture located in the north of Honshu in the Tohoku region.
The population is 1,353,000 people.
