A SHIFT IN GLOBAL INTELLIGENCE TOWARDS PEACE PREPAREDNESS & PLANETARY STEWARDSHIP (1)

In this talk Daffern summarizes his participation in a Harvard University seminar on the fact that Western intelligence agencies at the senior level, and no doubt other intelligence agencies worldwide, are realizing that the real enemy is not the “other“ of cold war days, but rather the common threat to planetary sustainability posed by global warming, environmental and economic melt down and the pandemic. Policy decision are thus being taken at a senior level to reflect this shift. A British army General has been tasked with finding out how the MOD should respond to these challenges. Should each country in the world have an “Eco-Battalion“ on stand by 24/7 to fight forest fires, floods, famines, droughts, environmental disasters? But not all countries seem able to make the required shift and continue to play nationalist ego games visioning up “enemies“. How can this shift help bring peace thinking into peace action? What has to happen before we can action the Golden Gate Project
