In-N-Out or Shake Shack?!
Tbh I love both but let’s make a Copycat In-N-Out Burger animal style
Makes 2 double doubles:
Caramelized Onions
1 tsp olive oil
1 large yellow onion, diced
Sauce
1 Tbsp ketchup
3 Tbsp mayo
2 tsp sweet pickle relish
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp distilled white wine vinegar
Burgers
10 oz 80/20 ground beef
Salt, to taste
Yellow mustard
4 slices American cheese
2 hamburger buns, toasted
Dill pickle chips
2 thick tomato slices
Iceberg lettuce
-Start by adding the olive oil to a medium size pan over low heat, then add the onions and caramelize. This will take about 40-45 minutes, so you can prep these before you start cooking your burgers. -While the onions are cooking, prep the sauce by mixing together all the ingredients in a small bowl, then refrigerating until ready to use.
-For the burgers, shape the ground beef into 4 equal balls, then flatten out into thin patties between two sheets of parchment paper. Season the patties with salt. In a medium size pan, start cooking on medium high heat for about 2-3 min until the bottom of the patty gets brown. Before flipping, add a drizzle of yellow mustard to each patty, then flip and top each patty with a slice of cheese and cook for another minute or until the burger is brown the whole way through ( or at an internal temperature of 160 °F) Stack one patty on top of another to create two double patties.
-To build the burgers, spread sauce on the bottom buns and top with pickles, a tomato slice, lettuce, the patties, caramelized onions, and more sauce and finish with the top buns.
-Enjoy!
