Надкопанье церковь Рождества / Digging the Church of the Nativity

#di_vito No, we don’t dig anything! It’s just the name of a village in the Leningrad region on the Pasha River - NADKOPANYE On the Pasha River a little away from the Murmansk There is a village with the funny name NADKOPANYE on the highway. From Vasilkovo we are going there. To the Church of the Nativity of Christ 1828 Architect Abram MELNIKOV (1784-1854). It is interesting because it twice participated in competitions for the largest churches in Russia: Christ the Savior in Moscow and St. Isaac’s in St. Petersburg. Both times his projects were recognized as the best, the architect was even awarded the First Prize. But the sovereign claimed other authors. On the site of the Pashsky churchyard - i.e. cemetery on the river Pasha - the church has been since time immemorial. The first wooden, most likely burned down from a fire. But the second in the 17th century was burned by the Swedes. By that time, a nunnery had formed around the temple. The Swedes burned everything along with the nuns. However, this is considered a legend, because. There are no records of this event. But (!) they say that their singing or bell ringing is still heard in an empty temple ... The stone temple was erected by local landowners - 6 estates and 36 villages belonged to the parish! And it was built by a local coachman - Prokopy Ivanov. Ktitors (builders and benefactors) were buried in the graveyard near the altar and the walls of the temple. In 1937, the priests were shot on the Levashovskaya wasteland. Everything was ruined, there was a warehouse in the temple. And only in 1996, when the temple was returned to the parish, gravestones were found in the thickets of hogweed and heaps of garbage. In 2000, they began to restore the churchyard. The graves of the landowners Mordvinovs, Kolotushkins, General Aprelev still stand, although without crosses... They say that local fishermen broke granite and marble tombstones into weights for nets... In 1996 Mikhail Pavlov started as rector here. In 2000, Hieromonk Anthony (Sergey KUZNETSOV) was appointed instead of him - a graduate of Mukhinka - The father is very kind and funny. She sings beautifully, organized a parish choir, leads rehearsals! He worked as a graphic designer at the Pashinsky state farm. And I found a board in the barn. Turned out to be an icon. What, he could not make out for a long time. He cleaned it from soot and dirt, and then they stole all the icons from him in the workshop, but this one ... was not touched. The artist was tonsured, and having been assigned to Podkopanye, he installed the icon at the altar... And she started to clear up! ... herself ... From the shoes of the Virgin and above. Gradually. And one day, the wick of the lamp spontaneously flared up. This is the icon of the “Fadeless Color of Purity“, which young people used to wear on their chests to preserve their virginity. An icon that is rare these days. The Mother of God holds the Christ-baby in her left hand, and in her right hand a symbol of purity - a lily (or a chamomile, as it seems to anyone) If you subscribe, it will be very good: or here We are also raising money for a device for filming a documentary about Fr. David, rector of the Holy Dormition Makarievskaya Hermitage, fundraising here: Save you GOD!
