The role of Vicki Anderson, portrayed seemingly effortlessly here by Miss Dunaway, is a timeless example of the best. An independent woman while intelligently being aware of the power of her femininity. A class act. Although filmed in 1968 the movie is primarily a lesson in how a modern woman manages her life in the contemporary world without downgrading elegance. All those quiet and unobtrusively subtle hints where women hold the cards - if they choose to. Because what is so charismatic about the movie is the on screen chemistry between Dunaway and McQueen. The role would have been very different one indeed had McQueen outmanoeuvred a male opponent. A lesson, perhaps, for 21st century women who renounce their femininity rather too easily as an excuse for winning.
