💈 Classic Haircut By Arthur Rubinoff At Amazing NYC Barber Shop Museum
In this hair wash and classic haircut video, you will catch @ArthurRubinoff using a freestyle technique that uses the finger-tips and comb to layer the hair from top to bottom thus allowing the hair to lay flatter and more naturally on the head.
NOTE: I requested that my hair be kept longer since I had another appointment scheduled :)
Many years have passed since the last time we were in NYC, and we finally made it back to visit a wonderful barbershop museum packed with history and character in New York City’s Upper West Side! The NYC Barber Shop Museum was opened in 2018 by 4th generation barber Arthur Rubinoff.
“Dream big, have a clear vision, and refer to it often.” -Arthur Rubinoff
Arthur is very proud to be a part of barbering history; a passion Arthur says he acquired from his father. “Without the past, we’re not going to have the future,” Arthur’s father told him, “Respect the past.”
Arthur’s father inspired him to collect vintage and antique memorabilia of the barbering industry. So when Arthur’s father passed away, Arthur made a promise to create a museum to honor his father and to give respect to all the barbers in the world💈❤️
Inside this shop you experience haircuts and wet shaves in a private setting surrounded by barbershop history and memorabilia that Arthur has been collecting for more than 25 years.
You will literally be sitting alongside an 1898 Americana prototype barbers chair, a 1901 towel steamer that would have also been used to sterilize shop instruments, and an antique clockwork barber pole. When you enter the shop, you are greeted with a photo of Arthur’s father and some of his barbering tools.
Arthur says barbershops used to be social clubs; a place where people came together. That is what NYC Barber Shop Museum provides - a place to come and enjoy time in peace and understanding.
When in New York City, check out the NYC Barber Shop Museum and learn some amazing barbering history whether visiting for a service or a tour. Arthur’s passion and great stories topped off with his hair care tips made this an awesome experience!
“I am proud that I am part of this history,” Arthur told us.
