creating HEMPCRETE insulation for my tiny house on wheels

PART 1: WHAT IS HEMPCRETE? Hempcrete is actually quite similar to concrete but is carbon negative, an eighth the weight, waterproof, fireproof, insulative, and is completely recyclable, making it the ideal green building material. From sourcing, to labor, to environmental impacts, to the long-term effects, a key objective with this tiny home has been to reduce the embodied energy of the building as much as possible. Which is what ultimately led to the decision to use hempcrete (that and being inspired by Scott’s hempcrete studio). Hempcrete is made with a simple mixture of the woody cores of the hemp plant, water, and a lime binder. Each of the three ingredients alone boast their own benefits, but mixed together, what we get what could be considered the ideal natural building material—eliminating the need for the typical insulation, drywall, and any plastic wrapping.
