Ashta Lakshmi stotra
This dance is dedicated to Lakshmi, the goddess of prosperity and consort of Lord Vishnu, and to her eight forms.
The central character of this dance is Mahalakshmi, and every dancer appearing on stage is personifying the bhakt (devotee) of the particular form of Lakshmi the dancer talking about. Everyone’s dupatta is iteratively embroidered by the name of presented form of the Goddess.
Coming into this material word, the bhakt is representing the pattern of worshiping one, who is not different from the object of worship, and finally merges with it.
All forms of the Goddess have 4 or 6 or 8 hands, currying particular things, describing this form. For example the lotus flower as a symbol of beauty and purity, or a shield and a sword, when we are talking about the Mother, who protects her child.
The first form - Adi Lakshmi, lives with Lord Narayana on Vaikuntha and serves Him with unlimited devotion of loving wife.
