Lumina: Medieval Music - Dou Way, Robin - Sancta Mater Gratiae by Anon C13
Gorgeous and melancholy carol from 13th century England. Based on a folksong about a medieval head-ache ““Dou way, Robin, the childe will weepe, dou way Robin.“ meaning “Go away Robin, the child will weep,“ the song overlays a hymn in praise of the Virgin Mary.
Recorded in the Barr Smith Library Reading Room in 2016 by sopranos and altos from the Lumina Vocal Ensemble: Rachel Sag, Saam Thorne, Beth Madigan, Anna Pope, Penny Dally, Melinda Pike, Rosemary Byron-Scott, Kate Tretheway and Tim Muecke.
