Pak Uzbek Afghan Railway Line Project and New Trade Agreements
Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan have signed a roadmap for a multi-billion-dollar rail line project that is expected to boost trade relations between Central and South Asia. This proposed 573km railway project will link Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent through Afghanistan capital Kabul and Pakistan’s northern city of Peshawar. The Pak-Uzbek-Afghan rail network project, at an estimated cost of US$5 billion, will open Pakistani seaports on the Arabian Gulf to Uzbekistan and continue Afghanistan’s gradual integration into the Central Asian economic system. New trade agreements have also been signed between the three countries for economical development of central asia.
These projects are part of CPEC China Pakistan Economic Corridor belt and road initiative.
