StuG IV at AusArmourFest 2022. German SPG.

Australian Armour and Artillery Museum outside of Cairns, QLD, Australia hosted AusArmourFest once again, giving visitors an opportunity to see armour in operation on their track. The festival ran from 26-28 August 2022. This footage was shot on Saturday 27-Aug-2022 and is of the StuG IV (Sturmgeschütz IV, 167) from the museum’s collection which was shortly thereafter driven out to the museum’s track for laps. See my video from the Commanders cupola on this channel. Another great opportunity to see the employment of the Panzer IV chassis for a different armoured vehicle. StuG IV mounts the StuK 40 L/48 main gun, as did the StuG III from Ausf.F onwards. The Panzer IV mounted the KwK 40 L/48, an almost identical gun, from onwards. The mounting hardware for schürzen (side skirts) is in place. These are thin metal plates or screens designed to cause premature detonation of High Explosive rounds & Shaped charges, and disruption of Anti-tank rifle rounds.
