The M4A1 with the SOPMOD Block II kit upgrade is undoubtedly the symbol for U.S. SOCOM and Special Operations Forces (SOF) during the Global War on Terror era... and yet is greatly mis-understood.
Commonly called, the M4 Block II, this is not a single developed rifle, but rather an entire kit (block) of equipment to increase the lethality of a SOF operator... which one of the most commonly used parts would have been the M4A1 carbine with the Block II upgraded parts and accessories added to it AND with the specialty Mk262 ammunition.
In this episode, we interviewed @ModernTacticalShooting ’s Master Sgt. (ret.) Jeff Gurwitch, a Special Forces veteran who witnessed the SOPMOD Block II’s adoption in the early 2013 era all the way through to its retirement.
So what does this Special Operations technology do to increase the lethality of the M4A1 carbine?
