Fefferman: Conformal Invariants

The William and Mary Distinguished Lecture Series presents Charles Fefferman. Abstract: Let M be a compact manifold with a Riemannian metric g. Which formulas lead to scalar-valued functions P(g) on the manifold, having a simple transformation law under conformal mappings? (Joint work with Robin Graham.) Which formulas P(g) are such that the integral of P(g) is unchanged by conformal maps? (This is work of the physicists Deser and Schwimmer, and the mathematician Spyros Alexakis).
