Nectivory & guarding behaviour by an Orsima ichneumon jumping spider
Observations of foraging and silk-laying behaviour on extra-floral nectaries by Orsima ichneumon jumping spiders. After foraging on the nectaries, the spider waves his abdomen from side to side, in a figure of eight pattern, laying silk around the nectary. The function of this behaviour is not yet known, but may serve to deter ants from visiting the same nectaries.
