Western Front Montage AKA Plains Of Alsace (1914-1918)

Western front Montage. Opens with shot looking down from hill to plain below and in distance; a couple French soldiers running through brush downhill. CU rocks and broken wood; rubble; bombs sending up smoke higher up on hill 4 grimy looking French soldiers. Looking down at ruins of bombed village; part of church; soldiers coming up hill through rubble; pan across more of ruins French soldiers walking through ditch; one carries shovel. Then scenes of soldiers in very primitive trench accommodations; pan to graves with wooden crosses stuck in the earth. Death; casualties. Looking down on a larger village; not bombed! Pan across the town; with farms in distance. CU girl with huge hair ribbon; holding U.S. flag. Another panning shot looking down into the valley; with lots of houses and other buildings; farms etc. looks like farming area. Actually I suppose this could be Alsace filmed by someone who sneaked up on it! Also on; ON 419; includes extra shot at beginning of men loading some sort of tripods
