IRON CROSS - Warhead - [FULL ALBUM 1985]

🔘These IRON CROSS from Pittsburgh released their only album in 1985 on the Micro Mix label (also ASSASSIN “License To Kill“). A very useful thing in my opinion, because the 10 songs offer power metal that is really worth listening to. Although one thing or another leaves something to be desired (e.g. the short playing time of 31 minutes), you can still pay the required fee to your trusted dealer without any worries. Procurement shouldn’t be a problem either. Greetings from the rest of the band... But let’s be a little more specific: IRON CROSS play pretty rough power metal, in which the throaty vocals are particularly striking. I have the feeling that they make quite raw music and don’t attach great importance to filigree, but maybe the singing just gives the impression of that. He reminds me a little of the BLACKLIST singer. He sings tightly and very throatily. But it fits the music, so I don’t want to judge it based on that. It’s a matter of taste. Musically, not everything that glitters is gold, songs like “Waiting For The Axe“ and “Chain Gang“ are somewhat boring songs that they could have saved. Even so, “Warhead” is not a classic in the area of US power metal, but songs like “”, “Set Your Sites”, “Send For The Cross”, “Cold Steel”, “Warhead” and “Crucible” are very successful songs that justify a purchase. Oh yes, take a look -- justify a purchase. Oh yes, look at the guys on the back cover of the album, posing with studs and chains hanging over their heads. You can then guess what awaits you musically, because the visuals say it all. A must for completists!!! Others should risk their hearing, because the music is really okay! Andreas Müller) ___________________ 🔘I remember getting this album on a very gray and rainy afternoon, as I opened it up, I remember what my record seller said “well, it’s on the same label as ASSASSIN, but much better, I think you will like it“. Knowing I had spent $100 USD on it I cautiously opened it, yet excitedly hurried to the turntable. I gently placed the needle on the vinyl, and.... RATT, the first two tracks and track seven sound almost identical to RATT circa “out of the cellar“ never have I heard a singer so close to Stephen Pearcy. I happened to like RATT so I quite enjoyed it. Track four through seven took me by surprise, as I thought they got a new singer, as Jeckyll turns to Mr Hyde, the singer and band go from RATT to a mix of choppy RAVEN and more so ACCEPT. “Send for the cross“ is a killer though. All in all a pretty good album, considering the rarity of it I think I paid a fair price and for most part got a good deal, the songs are all memorable and would go over well with most.
