Extensive Testing and Review of the Rode NTG5 Microphone vs NTG3 and NTG4+ - Sound Speeds Review
Rode has released many microphones throughout it’s history and in some ways, Rode has been an industry leader in great tech for the money. With the release of the Rode NTG5 short shotgun microphone Rode once again is turning heads and making people stop... and listen.
The Rode NTG5 is smaller and lighter than most short shotgun microphones but don’t let it’s size fool you. It’s a powerhouse in both it’s sound and design. With it’s very generous accessories kit, it very could be the next big microphone everyone will be talking about.
Many YouTube channels review products. Some read out specs and give someone else’s opinion as their own while others do a simple voice-over test but you won’t find that here. My style is to extensively test the mic meaning that I test it in many different capacities and in this video you’ll see just that testing.
At 1:26 I say “the microphone measures 203mm which is right at 8 ounces.“ That should have been corrected to “right at 8 inches“.

Full Disclosure: Rode did send me this NTG5 Location Kit in exchange for a fair review. I do get to keep it after the review but I will not allow this to affect my opinion so you can expect this to be an honest review.

Thank you to Rode for sending me the NTG5 and NTG4 to compare in this video and thank you to Micheal Wynne for letting me borrow his Rode NTG3. Be sure to check out his YouTube channel at:
