𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐭: Natasha and James are trying to escape from the Red Room together. Natasha gets hurt, and it’s hard for her to keep going. Both the widows and Hydra already know they’ve escaped, and are following in their footsteps to find them. Natasha encourages James to run away and leave her behind. But instead, he decides to fight the Hydra forces, giving Natasha a chance to escape. James is captured and brainwashed repeatedly to forget about Natasha and everything that made him James Barnes. Blaming herself for running away without him, Natasha decides to return to the Red Room and free her love. She’s determined to save him, and she’s fighting Hydra soldiers. Winter Soldier is waking up again. In a fit of battle, he kills Pierce and decides to disappear. On the way, though, he confronts Natasha, who wants to run away with him. She doesn’t know what they did to him, she doesn’t know she’s a stranger to James. James points his gun at her. “Who the hell is James?“ he asks, and then he shoots her.
