Bob Dylan - Changing of the Guards (Official Audio)

Bob Dylan - Changing of the Guards (Official Audio) NOBEL LITERATURE PRIZE IN LITERATURE POETRY FOR 2016 Sixteen years* Sixteen banners united over the field Where the good shepherd grieves Desperate men and desperate women are divided Spreading their wings ’neath the falling leaves Fortune calls I stepped forth from the shadows into the marketplace Merchants and thieves, hungry for power, my last deal gone down She’s smelling sweet like the meadows where she was born On midsummer’s eve, near the tower The cold-blooded moon The captain waits above the celebration Sending his thoughts to a beloved maid Whose ebony face is beyond communication The captain is down but still believing that his love will be repaid They shaved her head. She was torn between Jupiter and Apollo A messenger arrived with a black nightingale I saw her on the stairs, and I couldn’t help but follow Follow her down past the fountain, where they lifted her veil I stumbled to my feet. I rode past destruction in the ditches With the stitches still mending ’neath a heart-shaped tattoo Renegade priests and treacherous young witches We’re handing out the flowers that I’d given to you The palace of mirrors Where dog soldiers are reflected The endless road and the wailing of chimes The empty rooms where her memory is protected Where the angels’ voices whisper to the souls of previous times She wakes him up Forty-eight hours later, the sun is breaking Near broken chains, mountain laurel, and rolling rocks She’s begging to know what measures he will now be taking He’s pulling her down, and she’s clutching on to his long golden locks Gentlemen, he said I don’t need your organization, I’ve shined your shoes I’ve moved your mountains and marked your cards But Eden is burning; either brace yourself for elimination Or else your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guards Peace will come With tranquillity and splendor on the wheels of fire But it will bring us no reward when her false idols fall, a cruel death surrenders with its pale ghost retreating Between the King and the Queen of Swords @ToadHallRecords πριν από 4 μήνες After listening to Bob for 20 years, I have decided that this is my favourite song of his. @anthonyclarke2106 πριν από 5 ημέρες Beautiful. Everyone wants one of those. That’s got to be the best. To understand your folks’ hearts beat the same as yours, with a common theme. A realisation that they hear like you, feel like you. Same ideas as you. The same concept, just presented differently, with different content. Same heart, same tears, same everything. Just a different cast. @kikuskakas πριν από 4 μήνες My parents gave me this album in 1979 as a vinyl single. They did so without knowing who this genius was, following the advice of the record store salesman. I was 14. Now, at 60, I listen to it every day. Blessed is the salesman who introduced me to this great among the greats. @allanb9709 πριν από 2 έτη I thought I had a favourite Dylan song, but it’s not possible. One leads to the next. @PawelSzyszka-n3q πριν από 3 εβδομάδες Tomorrow I will be 40 years old and this song will accompany me all day ❤️🥺😘thank you, it’s worth being with you all 🙏❤️😘🥺 @Ana-x3r1o πριν από 1 μήνα Bob ’re simply the best!!!!!! So soothing, so inspiring, simply brilliant. @emiliopedace3915 πριν από 2 έτη (τροποποιήθηκε) One of the most beautiful songs, Dylan Forever. @bsnf-5 πριν από 10 μήνες The best songwriter in the Universe @abdelsalam7895 πριν από 3 έτη toujours BOB Dylan ❤❤❤💯💯😘 @schorschzumtal7326 πριν από 1 έτος Oh my goodness! I (born in 1962) listened to “Street Legal“ over and over again back then. The record turned me into a true Dylan fan. @rebeccahafferkamp322 πριν από 2 έτη Once again, I am listening to and absorbing this album. It is my favorite. A verse I find particularly intriguing.........“Gentlemen, he said. I don’t need your organization. I’ve shined your shoes and marked your cards, but Eden is burning. Either getting ready for elimination, or else your hearts must have the courage for the changing of the guard“. It’s 2022, and I continue to be amazed by his lyrical genius. I’m 68 and must have a regular dose of Dylan. My list of favorites is endless, yet he has written so much more. It’s so good to see t
