She’s young, and is manipulated to the point where her morality grays, and she has to question her own actions. And, once she makes the choice to stand up to the rules she once lived by, she is one of the most driven and proactive protagonists. When she meets her end, drowning in a literal manifestation of despair, her soul doesn’t falter. She looks death in the eyes and sees only love. Feels only warmth.
