Horse racing’s Epsom Derby and greyhound racing’s William Hill Derby both take place on Saturday and to celebrate, William Hill organised a one-off race between two of nature’s speediest animals in an attempt to determine who comes out on top.
Ferry Forth Fran, a finalist in the 2015 William Hill St Leger (one of the top staying greyhound races), was pitched in to a battle with winning thoroughbred racehorse Limerick Lord at Towcester Racecourse. Partnering Limerick Lord in the saddle was leading jockey Adam Beschizza.
Towcester is a rare venue as it has both a greyhound and horse racing track, with the winning post in line with each other.
So who wins? The greyhound or the horse?
