Moscow in October: Naryshkinsky Pond. Нарышкинский пруд.

The Naryshkinsky pond, located next to the estate of the same name, has existed unchanged for several centuries. This is the largest body of water in the Fili Forest Park - 90 meters long and 55 meters wide. At one time, the pond was dug for the household needs of the inhabitants of the Naryshkin estate, and was also used for fish breeding. Later it was turned into a place for walks and relaxation for the guests of the estate’s owners, and became “a delight for the eyes.” The pond, the estate and the surrounding area are described in Turgenev’s novel “On the Eve”. The pond is sometimes called Turgenevsky. On its banks they were sad about the impossibility of love, enjoyed the beauty of nature, and looked for subjects for paintings and musical works by Lermontov, Tolstoy, Savrasov, Tchaikovsky. Нарышкинский пруд расположенный рядом с одноименной усадьбой, существует в неизменном виде уже несколько столетий. Это самый большой водоем лесопарка Фили — 90 метров в длину и 55 в ширину. В свое время пруд был выкопан для домовых нужд обитателей усадьбы Нарышкиных, использовался и для разведения рыбы. Позже был превращен в место прогулок и отдыха гостей хозяев усадьбы, стал «усладой глаз». Пруд , усадьба и окрестности описаны в романе Тургенева «Накануне». Пруд иногда называют Тургеневским. На его берегах грустили о невозможности любви, наслаждались красотой природы, искали сюжеты для картин и музыкальных произведений Лермонтов, Толстой, Саврасов, Чайковский.
