Why is asphalt used for road construction now, isn’t cement cheaper?

Using asphalt for road construction has some advantages over concrete. Asphalt is easier to lay during construction, making it suitable for building longer roads, and it remains pliable at lower temperatures. Additionally, asphalt roads have better shock absorption and noise reduction properties compared to concrete roads. However, concrete roads generally have superior compressive strength and durability. Overall, the choice to use asphalt or concrete for road construction is typically based on factors such as local climate conditions, traffic volume, budget, and other considerations.
