The suspect was said to be an 18-year-old Austrian citizen with Bosnian roots. He had previously been charged by police in Salzburg for membership of a terrorist organisation when Islamic State propaganda was found on his mobile phone, according to the Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung. Other reports suggested that he had only recently arrived in Germany.
