And the Soviet Union won that unbearably difficult war. But it is very important to understand whether our allies were in fact sincere, whose allies were the so-called neutral countries and why the war on the Eastern Front was of such a fierce nature with mass destruction of the population. Without understanding who brought Hitler to power, who financed him, who earned money from the war, we will never realise the greatness of the feat of the Soviet people. Without a deep understanding of the causes of the war, analysis of diplomatic negotiations, we will not see that the attack on the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941 was the outcome of a serious geopolitical process. The important question is: who was behind Hitler, who needed such a Germany in Europe and for what purpose? Aggressive, militarised, anti-Bolshevik and anti-Russian. What would Germany be without American loans? Without the investment of American companies? Germany could not have fought in the East without getting for free the beautiful factories of Czechoslovakia, which it gained by the Munich Conspiracy of 1938, when England and France gave Hitler an entire country. Why? What were the politicians of the West planning? Why did it take the Allies so long to open a Second Front and what was the Bank for International Settlements? Why did its members meet every month throughout World War II? How many foreigners fought in the SS and who defended the Reich Chancellery in May 1945? Who in Europe was so close to Hitler’s ideas: nationalism, anti-Semitism and living space in the East. The film “The Great Unknown War“ is an account of what the Soviet Union actually faced. And about the fact that at a terrible cost we won a war we should not have won.
