How To Design and Laser Cut a Lit World of Warcraft Paladin Crest
In this episode, I use Adobe Illustrator to design a lit piece of wall art inspired by the Paladin Crest from World of Warcraft (WoW). The parts are cut on a laser cutter and hand painted by my son, using the skills he’s developed doing miniature painting.
The light box in the back of the crest contains a puck light that has a remote control. There is a door that allows easy removal of the puck light for battery replacement.
I talk about the techniques used to create the Adobe design, show the parts being cut and assembled. I point out some of the painting techniques that yield a three dimensional image.
This project was a birthday present for a very special person, and it is hanging today on the wall in his game room!
