Paul McCartney – The Pound Is Sinking (CP35-3001, 1st Japan CD Pressing)

“The Pound Is Sinking“ by Paul McCartney, from the album “Tug of War“ (1982). The first album in the CP35 series, CP35-3001 was released in 1983, just one year after “Tug of War“ was released internationally on LP. This release also marks the first time a Paul McCartney solo album was released on compact disc. (The highly sought-after CP35 pressing of “Abbey Road,“ catalog number CP35-3016, was released on May 21, 1983, and marked the first time a Beatles album was released on compact disc.) This CD pressing, often referred to as “Black Triangle“ by CD collectors due to the large black triangle on the face of the CD, has pre-emphasis, an artificial, but standardized, filter boosting higher frequencies. Using iTunes, I have performed de-emphasis, which brings the equalization back to what the producer intended the listener to hear.
