On 22 August 2001, Real Madrid lifted their sixth Spanish Super Cup. Their opposition were Real Zaragoza and the Whites clinched a one-all draw at La Romareda in the first leg thanks to a Flavio Conceição strike. The game at the Aragon club’s home ground was also Zidane’s official Real Madrid debut. The return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu happened three days later and the team treated the home fans to a 3-0 win to get their hands on the trophy.
