“Between the Iron Age and the rise of Islam – developments in Eastern Arabia from the 4th Century BC to the 7th Century AD“ - Dr Derek Kennet, Durham University, UK Organizers: Lloyd Weeks and Khaled Douglas Wednesday 26th May 2021, 1 pm UK time (GMT 1) This lecture will look at the development of Eastern Arabia from the end of the Iron Age to the rise of Islam in the 7th century AD. It will survey the changing nature and density of occupation through this 1000-year period of archaeological history, considering the upturns and the downturns in occupation and what might be behind them. It will briefly examine some of the key archaeological sites concerned.
