The Ocean Agency - 50 Reefs

50 Reefs is a global initiative to save coral reefs. In the last 30 years, we’ve lost 50% of corals globally. Climate change is now their greatest threat and it is estimated that only 10% can survive past 2050. Without urgent action, coral reefs face extinction. 50 Reefs will identify and prioritize protection efforts on the coral reefs that are least vulnerable to climate change, and also have the greatest capacity to repopulate other reefs over time. Our aim is to catalyze the global action and investment necessary to save this critical ecosystem. Developed by The Ocean Agency and the Global Change Institute at The University of Queensland. Funded by Bloomberg Philanthropies with The Tiffany & Co. Foundation and Paul G. Allen Philanthropies.
