Mount Etna, Sicily, Italy: Strombolian-type Effusive Eruption Today | 12th November 2023

A continuation of Strombolian-type effusive eruption was observed today 12th November 2023 at Mount Etna, Metropolitan city of Catania on Sicily. Mount Etna is the highest and most active stratovolcano in Europe. Towering above the city of Catania on the island of Sicily, it has been growing for about 500,000 years and has one of the world’s longest-documented records of volcanism, dating back to 1500 BCE. Etna is in the midst of a series of eruptions that began in September 2013.
