The National Ballet of Rwanda, URUKEREREZA performs ’Umushagiliro’ | Embassy Festival 2020

The National Ballet of Rwanda, URUKEREREZA, has more than one hundred artists representing all age groups from four provinces of the country as well as of the City of Kigali. Urukerereza performs a wide variety of dances and songs, including this one. Umushagiliro: this dance was done by women. It’s a dance with a slow tempo and not dragged, it exhibition of the body most especially the arms. It imitates the movements of the royal cows; a cow was a symbol of wealth in the ancient Rwanda.
