Germany’s Scholz vows to tame gas prices while Putin says US profiting from EU’s energy chaos
Olaf Scholz, leader of Germany, the Europe’s No.1 economy, vowed Wednesday to tame the soaring energy prices by lowering the LNG deliveries fees first.
Scholz told the parliament that Germany is importing energy from its friendly allies, including the Netherlands, Belgium and France, as well as US, from across the ocean.
The Chancellor was arguing a “well-placed” Germany for winter the coming despite facing the complete shutdown of Russian pipeline gas via NordSteam 1.
While his Russian counterpart Putin was speaking out bluntly on the NordStream rows and what and who drives the global energy turmoil, slamming “Russia weaponizing gas” rhetoric.
EU energy ministers will discuss energy prices during an emergency summit Friday with setting a price cap on Russian gas one of top five focuses.
But it is facing split reaction from member countries.
