Renato Carosone - Tu vuo’ fa’ l’americano (original,1956,HQ,live,Eng video lyrics)
“You wanna be like an american“ - (Parody 1956)
You wear trousers with a stamp behind,
You wear an old hat in an old italian way,
You stroll through the main streets, ringing the bell,
posing a bully-cool to have people looking at you.
You wanna be like an american,
an american, an american.
Listen to me! Who’s asking to you?
You want to live trendy,
but if you drink whisky and soda,
then you feel dizzy.
You dance rock and roll,
you play baseball,
but who’s giving you money to buy cigarettes?
Is it from your Mom’s bag ?!
You wanna be like an american,
an american, an american,
but you were born in Italy,
listen to me! There is nothing to do!
Okay neapolitan, You wanna be like an american,
You wanna be like an american.
You wanna be like an american,
You wanna be like an american.
You wanna be like an american,
an american, an american,
but you were born in Italy,
listen to me! There is nothing to do!
Okay neapolitan, You wanna be like an american,
You wanna be like an american.
Whisky and soda and rock and roll,
Whisky and soda and rock and roll,
Whisky and soda and rock and roll.
You wanna be like an american,
You wanna be like an american.

’mericano, ’mericano,
siente a me, chi t’ho fa fa?
Tu vuoi vivere alla moda,
ma se bevi whisky and soda
po’ te siente ’e disturba’.
Tu abballe ’o rock and roll
tu gioche a baseball
ma ’e sorde pe’ ’e Cammel chi te li dà?
La borsetta di mammà!
Tu vuò fa l’americano,
’mericano, ’mericano,
ma si nato in Italy,
siente a me, nun ce sta niente ’a fa’
Okay, napulitan,
Tu vuò fà l’america’
Tu vuò fà l’america’
Tu vuò fà l’america’
Tu vuò fà l’america’
Tu vuò fà l’americano
’mericano, ’mericano,
ma si nato in Italy,
siente a me nun ce sta niente ’a fa’.
Okay, napulitan, tu vuò fà l’america’,
tu vuò fà l’america’.
Whisky and soda and rock and roll,
Whisky and soda and rock and roll,
Whisky and soda and rock and roll.
Tu vuò fà l’america’,
Tu vuò fà l’america’.
Whisky and soda and rock and roll,
Whisky and soda and rock and roll,
Whisky and soda and rock and roll.
================== Españoles (más o menos!)
Llevas pantalones con marca en el trasero
Una gorra con la visera hacia arriba
Andas campaneando por Toledo
como un chulo, para hacerte notar
Quieres hacerte el americano
óyeme, ¿quién te pide que lo hagas?
Tú quieres vivir a la moda,
pero si bebes “whisky and soda“
luego te sientes mareado
Tú bailas rock and roll
tú juegas al béisbol
pero el dinero para el Camel
¿quién te lo da? ¿El monedero de mamá?
Quieres hacerte el americano
pero naciste en Italy
óyeme: no hay nada que hacer
¿ok, napolitano?

Renato Carosone †, pseudonym of Renato Carusone , born in Naples on January 3, 1920 and died † in Rome on May 20, 2001, was a singer-songwriter, pianist and Italian composer.
On 28 October 1949 he founded the “Trio Carosone“ with dutch Peter Van Wood, Fiorenzo Fiorentini and the neapolitan play maker Gegè Di Giacomo.
When in 1952 the dutch Van Wood leaves the trio to move to America, Carosone and Gegè reconstitute the group, which became “a quartet“ with guitarist Franco Cerri, the bass singer Claudio Bernardini and saxophonist Richard Rauchi (Cerri, is then replaced by Alberto Pizzigoni and Bernardini, Piero Giorgetti).
After, “The quartet“ became “a sextet“ composed by Di Giacomo, Rauchi, Pizzigoni and Giorgetti, saxophonist Gianni Tozzi Rambaldi, the clarinetist and guitarist Tonino Grottola, Raf Montrasio and, some evenings, added the percussionist Aldo Pagani.
In the 1957 come alongside Di Giacomo Giorgetti, Marco Del Conte on sax and Rauchi to flugelhorn, Sergio Lombardini on clarinet and flugelhorn, Silvano Santorio the guitar in place of Montrasio.
