Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag - Glitch Package (Part 2)
More glitches in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag!
Once again, I’ve no idea if any of these glitches are known. Most of the glitches in this vid are related to an upgrading break-out prompt glitch. There are still a lot of ideas I’ve yet to exhaust in regards to this, and other glitches.
Points of Interest:
1. Prompt break-out glitch - You can get Edward to enter a glitched state where he can’t activate some prompts, and you can’t access any menus.
This is done by being desynchronized just as you are entering the Ship’s store, and then upgrading (at least the Diving Bell, in this instance).
I knew that the game sometimes shows a short scene of the Jackdaw being upgraded upon exiting the shop, so I was curious if this would cancel the scene of being Desynchronised. You do become de-synced, but on restart Edward is now in his “Prompt break-out glitched state“. I’ve yet to test many other prompts with this glitch state. Here are some results for now:
(a) Shops - you break-out of entering it, then the prompt becomes expired.
(b) Captain’s cabin doors - works like normal. But none of the prompts inside the cabin work.
(c) Ship’s rudder - you get the screen asking if you’d like to sail or fast travel, but no inputs function. You become quasi-softlocked, except for some minor movement of the ship with the L-controller. If you get far enough away from where the ship originally is, you get complete control of your ship but while on land...
EDIT: I also found a much easier way to do the ship-on-land glitch, but didn’t include it since I suspect that it might be known. In my opinion it’s a glaring oversight by the devs. But some of the footage in the vid used this 2nd method, which allows prompt activation.
2. ...Sailing “on“ land glitches - Sailing has such high priority, that as far as the ship - and Edward - are concerned, nothing on land has solid collision. Letting go of the Rudder causes Edward to react to land-collision.
Not on vid: You can activate prompts while still attached to the Rudder (and ship still sailing), I “entered“ a weapon shop and switched weapons while holding on to the Rudder. Edward glowed like normal upon “exiting“ , but while holding onto the rudder. Need to test every other prompt while on the ship. Starting a mission for example...
3. ...Guards can kill you while you are holding the Rudder, although Edward has no personal health bar while holding the Rudder...
4. ...The ship-on-land glitch allows you to go around de-sync barriers and end up at areas of the map you should not be able to reach. I used this to go extremely far away off the map.
Some results of this were:
(a) My crew unloading (swimming away from the ship, then returning causes this), but this doesn’t affect the functions of the ship (“they“ can even sing).
(b) The sea loses its blue texture, waves and is actually black. Edward can break-out of grabbing the hook that shoots him up the mast, and he starts to slowly float away horizontally. Aiming ends the state.
5. ...I left the ship in an out-of-bounds location and then went to a beached boat and activated its prompt to return to the ship. To my surprise, the game returns you to the ship in its out-of-bounds location...
6. ...While sailing under the map, you can go to any area. The ship also becomes a custom ladder. The hooks that zip you up and down the mast let you by-pass solid collision in order to get back up in-bounds, or to return back out-of-bounds to the ship to sail to your next location. Makes getting around the map a lot faster...
7. ...The ship’s swinging rope has such high priority, that you can breach collision with it. Could be useful somewhere...
8. ...While land-sailing, your crew members will kill anyone that tries to attack you. May come in handy somewhere?...
