A song by Mark Mehrman dedicated to the legendary White commander Baron Roman Fedorovich von Ungern-Sternberg, who liberated Mongolia from the Chinese occupation in 1921 and went on a “campaign into Russia” in order to find his death in battles with the Bolsheviks. The song lyrics contain many allusions, allegories, references to Ungern’s ideology, his origin and past, as well as nostalgia for the Baron’s homeland, the Russian Empire, which has perished.
The song contains German words and phrases emphasizing the general’s Ostsee (Baltic German) origin.
Portrayed by Lt. General Roman (Robert Nikolaus Maximilian) von Ungern-Sternberg (1886—1921), the legendary White monarchist commander of the Russian Civil War and the restorer of Mongolian independence.
