China, Greece partner in jointly building Belt and Road: Xi

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Beijing on Friday. Noting this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the European Union, Xi said the China-EU relationship bears on the well-being of their people and peace, stability and prosperity of the world. Xi said China is willing to work with the EU to adhere to correct mutual understanding, focus on consensus, and invigorate mutually-beneficial cooperation across the board, noting China hopes for a further constructive role of Greece in this regard. Chinese Premier Li Qiang held talks with visiting Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Beijing on Friday. During the talks, Li said that since China and Greece established diplomatic ties 51 years ago, the two countries have always respected, trusted and supported each other. In recent years, the two countries have achieved fruitful outcomes from practical cooperation and delivered benefits to their people, said Li. Li said China is ready to enhance communication and coordination with Greece on multilateral occasions, and jointly promote growth of ties between China and the European Union as well as relations between China and Central and Eastern European countries.
