Gangsters Declare War On Live TV In Ecuador; Military Operation Launched, 60-Day Emergency Declared
There was total chaos in Ecuador after the country’s most-wanted prisoner disappeared from jail. On January 9, gunmen stormed a television station and attacked police officers around the country. The masked gunmen overran the headquarters of TC TV, interrupting a live broadcast. Gangsters declared “war“ during a live broadcast, triggering fear across Ecuador. At least seven police officers were also kidnapped in three cities in the South American country. Ecuadorean President Daniel Noboa has ordered military operations and declared a 60-day state of emergency.
