Ma’at - The Winged Egyptian Goddess Of Truth, Balance And Justice | Egyptian Mythology Explained
For the ancient people of Kemet, The winged Egyptian goddess Ma’at symbolized truth, justice and balance. In the Egyptian mythology, the goddess Ma’at represent order on a social, personal and even cosmic level, she is the deity who regulated the relationship between the gods and the people and between opposite genders. And because of that, Maat in a way kept a mutual relationship between male and female divinities. In the Egyptian pantheon of gods is known as the beloved daughter of the sun god Ra present at the moment of creation. Among the Egyptian gods and goddesses, Ma’at has probably the most recognizable appearance as she often depicted as a woman with outstretched wings wearing an ostrich plume on her head, or just as an ostrich feather alone that conveys her presence. Ma’at is believed that the Ten Commandments of the Christian Bible were inspired from the 42 principles of Ma’at. These represent altogether an ancient ethical every Egyptian citizen was expected to follow through their respective life.
