Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians - Live in Paris 1976

Several months after premiering the work at New York’s Town Hall, Steve Reich and his ensemble took ’Music for 18 Musicians’ on tour in Europe. This is a live recording for French radio made on October 22nd 1976 at the third of the three shows they performed at the Festival d’Automne at the Salle Wagram in Paris, France. Also on the program that night were Clapping Music, a version of Piano Phase for marimbas, and Violin Phase. Whilst in Paris, they also recorded the work at the Studio des Dames - this recording would become the first to be released on ECM in 1978.
