The Wreck of Cruiser Murmansk – A Soviet Relic off Norway’s Coast
When it comes to shipwrecks, most of the interesting warships fade away after the 1940s. A few exceptions aside, of course, like General Belgrano. As we progress into the 21st Century, that won’t change.
For example, barring something going really wrong with a museum ship, we’re past the point of big guns on shipwrecks. With one, notable, exception. Murmansk.
This Soviet cruiser was the last all-gun cruiser to be wrecked, in the mid-1990s. Her wreck would sit in place, off Norway, for twenty years.
Only scrapped in 2012, so quite recently, in the grand scheme of things.
