New York (USA), September 27:India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar opened up about the ongoing conflict between India and Canada. Giving a sharp reply to Canadian PM Trudeau’s allegations, Jaishankar talked about Indian diplomats being threatened there. Justin Trudeau claimed to have “credible allegations” of involvement of Indian agents in Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing. Nijjar was shot dead outside a Gurudwara in Canada’s Surrey in June 2023. A senior Indian diplomat was expelled by the Canadian government and India retaliated the same way. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the media last week. Tensions are rising between Canada and India as diplomatic staff adjustments take place, with New Delhi halting visa services for Canada. Trudeau, speaking in the House of Commons on Monday, referenced “credible“ intelligencqe linking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to the murder of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar, a prominent advocate for the Khalistan movement, was tragically killed on June 18 outside a Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, B.C. Details regarding the evidence held by Canadian intelligence agencies were not disclosed by Trudeau.
