Marie Wilson (1941)

Titles read: “Now Pathetone Presents MARIE WILSON Novelty Cyclist (From The London Palladium. Etc)“. London, probably Pathe Studio. Various shots of novelty cyclist Marie Wilson riding about the studio on her bike. Some shots show 2 or 3 Maries riding around, using superimposed camera tricks. She is dressed in white shorts, a dark top and a little bobble hat, and starts her act by bending right over backwards to loosen up. Then she does numerous balances and bicycle tricks, like riding around while standing on one leg on her saddle. In another trick she manages to get her head and shoulders through the inside bars of the bike, with her feet off the ground! Cataloguer’s note: this is very entertaining! Perhaps Marie could be viewed as a BMX pioneer? FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
