Lopazz

BUY: During the last few years, Heidelberg-born Stefan Eichinger has been busy testing his musical and production talents in a wide variety of activities around his 800achtspur label (founded in 1996). He also worked as a sound engineer for Alex Cortez and Bergheim 34, amongst others. In 2003, he finally received much-deserved recognition and praise for his club hit “I Need Ya“, featured on his debut EP released by Freundinnen / Heidelberg. When Trevor Jackson heard the track he immediately snapped him up for his own Output label while Sven Väth decided to include “I Need Ya“ on his latest Ibiza Mix compilation. Lopazz’s sound has a very high recognition factor — and it’s his production values which make him stand out from the infinite number of fellow dancefloor producers. Similar in approach to Matthew Herbert, who came up with the PCCO manifesto, his very own idiosyncratic production framework, Eichinger creates tracks that are 100% analogue and based on natural, non-computer generated sounds. Lopazz carved his very own aesthetic niche a long time ago, as can be heard on his first ever release for Berlin-based label Get Physical — both the Barry White-esque „Take Me Home“ and „Migracion“ (featuring vocals by Alex Cortex and Mariella Landivar-Garcia) are fresh, emotional and tongue-in-cheek enough to bring tears to our eyes. If this is the sound of the summer, it’s bound to be a great one.
