Ruby Starr is the second single from the hard hitting, bourbon smoked sophomore album “Aces & Eights“, which is released on June 18th 2021.
Rob outlines the inspiration for the song: “Ruby was the backing singer for Black Oak Arkansas during the 70’s. Jim Dandy, who formed the band, loved the way she looked and sounded and she was a great asset to the band live and in the studio. She recorded some solo albums when she left, and I was fortunate to see her singing in Las Vegas during the early 80’s when I was travelling the USA. I had no idea it was her until many years later. I’ve always been a big fan of full on female singers and she was one - I believe she was better than Janis Joplin. This song is dedicated to her, a largely forgotten talent, who never gained the success she deserved“.
