Although this lamp ended up looking quite different from the original drawing, I’m very happy with the result. There is a big difference between a drawing and the actual object taking shape in front of you, so the arm gradually moved closer to the table, the counterweight disappeared and the base got a lot smaller. Bending the wood turned out to be a lot easier than I thought and the arm is strong and very light weight.
The arm and base are made from Jarrah and the column is made from aluminium. The locking lever was bought on ebay and the paint stripped off. Power is supplied with a standard 12 volt adaptor and the lamp is turned on/off with an inline switch.
