Their endless artistic contributions, one being Hip-Hop, has massively shaped the path to where I am today. I feel very fortunate to have been exposed to a community where your differences were glorified. Because I was so immersed in Bboying, race nor skin color was ever a conscious thought in my mind. I knew what racism was, but I didn’t understand it fully nor experience it. All I knew was the acceptance of every culture and every race from around the world sharing and contributing their love to this art form, dance, and helping it flourish as one. I admit that it wasn’t until the tragic loss of George Floyd that my eyes were opened to this horrifying truth of racism and the injustice proposed on people of color.
