Emil Erich Kästner (23 February 1899 - 29 July 1974) was a German author, poet, screenwriter and satirist, known primarily for his humorous, socially astute poetry and for children’s books’. He had strong antimilitarist opinions. The present poem dates from 1932 and is inspired by Goethe’s poem ’Kennst du das Land, wo die Zitronen blühn?’ More on Literary Arts, check my playlist:
